Varun Tej’s upcoming film Matka, which had a grand launch in Hyderabad in late July, will start its shooting from next month. “The first schedule of the movie will start in Hyderabad on October 4. They will shoot in different locations of the city for 20 days. In November, the makers are planning to build a set of old Visakhapatnam (1960’s) in the city. The exact spot for the set is yet to be finalized. The second schedule will begin in this set in December.
Director Karuna Kumar and team are aiming to wrap up the entire filming by March . Matka is set in the backdrop of old Visakhapatnam and is based on a true incident that shocked the whole nation. It covers 24 years, requiring Varun Tej to sport four different looks. He is undergoing a total makeover for the movie which will be his most expensive film till date. Meenakshi Chowdary, who acted in HIT: The Second Case, is playing the female lead opposite Varun, while Bollywood beauty Nora Fatehi will have a supporting role. The other supporting cast includes Naveen Chandra, Kannada Kishore, Ajay Ghosh, Mime Gopi, Roopalakshmi, Vijayrama Raju, Jagadeesh and Raj Thirandas along with many new faces. GV Prakash is composing music for the film, a joint production of Mohan Cherukuri (CVM) and Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala under Vyra Entertainments.
