Jailer, the latest blockbuster from Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, is breaking records at the box office. The film, directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar, released worldwide on August 10 and has grossed over Rs.375.40 crores in seven days, according to the official announcement by the producer Sun Pictures. Jailer has set a new record for the highest first week gross collections in Tamil cinema (Kollywood) history. The poster released by Sun Pictures says ‘Superstar Rajinikanth… The Record Maker’.
Some trade analysts say that Jailer has crossed Rs.400 crore collections in seven days. The film had a massive opening day collection of Rs.95.78 crore worldwide and maintained its momentum throughout the week. Jailer is doing well both in India and overseas. In Tamil Nadu alone, the film has collected Rs.150 crores in seven days. The film is also a huge hit in Telugu.
Jailer showcases Rajinikanth’s action, style and swag that have won the hearts of his fans. Director Nelson Dilip Kumar’s narration is being appreciated by the critics and the audience. Anirudh Ravichander’s music is another highlight of the film. The cameo appearances of Malayalam star Mohanlal and Kannada star Shivraj Kumar are also a special attraction for ‘Jailer’. Jailer is on its way to become a mega success and is expected to join the Rs 500 crore club in the next few days.
Jailer also features Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishna, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil, Yogibabu, Vasanth Ravi and Mirna in important roles. The film is produced by Kalanidhi Maran under Sun Pictures banner.
