RS Shivaji, Who Acted in Over 100 Tamil Films, Dies at 66

RS Shivaji (66), a renowned Tamil actor and a close friend of Kamal Haasan, died on Saturday due to old age health issues. RS Shivaji had acted in more than a hundred Tamil films.

Shivaji shared a strong bond with the top actor Kamal Haasan. He was often seen in Kamal Haasan’s movies because of their friendship. Shivaji played comic roles in many films featuring Kamal Haasan, such as Vikram, Satya, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Guna, Chachi 420, Anbe Sivam. All these films were also dubbed in Telugu and earned him recognition.

RS Shivaji made his Telugu debut with Chiranjeevi’s Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. He played constable role named Malokam. He also appeared in a crucial role in the film 1000 Abaddalu directed by Teja. These were the only two films he did in Telugu. Shivaji’s performance as Sai Pallavi’s father in Gargi, which had Sai Pallavi as the lead actress last year, was appreciated.

Shivaji played significant roles in films as well as some TV shows. He impressed with his performance in the main role in the web series Time Enna Boss. His death was a shock to Kollywood. Many film personalities have expressed their grief over RS Shivaji’s demise. RS Shivaji’s brother Santhana Bharathi is still one of the top directors in Tamil.
