The film, titled Thalaivar 171, will be produced by Sun Pictures and have music by Anirudh Ravichander.
The film has been in the news for a long time, as Lokesh Kanagaraj is known for delivering a blockbuster with Vikram last year, starring Kamal Haasan. The announcement of Thalaivar 171 has put an end to the speculations that the project was shelved. Sun Pictures made the announcement on Monday (September 11) and created a huge buzz among the fans.
Thalaivar 171 is expected to start shooting in February next year and release on Diwali next year. The film will be a treat for Rajinikanth’s fans, who are eager to see what kind of magic Lokesh Kanagaraj will create with the superstar. Rajinikanth is currently enjoying a new wave of popularity after Jailer, which collected more than Rs.600 crore worldwide.
Before Thalaivar 171, Rajinikanth will also work on his 170th film, which will be directed by Jai Bheem fame TJ Gnanavel and produced by Lyca Productions. The details of this film are not yet revealed. Meanwhile, Lokesh Kanagaraj is also busy with Leo, which stars Vijay in the lead role. Leo is slated to hit the screens on October 19.
