Deepika Padukone has a strong reason for skipping the first glimpse launch event of Project K at SDCC 2023. It is not just her health issues, but something else.
Project K movie starring Prabhas will have a grand launch at the San Diego Comic Con event 2023. Prabhas, Rana and Kamal Haasan have already arrived there for this event. But Deepika Padukone, who plays the female lead role in the movie, is not attending. The real reason behind this is the ongoing actors strike in Hollywood.
You may wonder what Deepika has to do with Hollywood. Well, Deepika is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Radio and Television Artists, which is currently on strike. As part of this strike, the actors are not participating in any film shooting or related events. Deepika joined this federation after making her Hollywood debut with Triple X movie in 2017.
She also hosted the Oscars event this year and introduced the Natu Natu song. The song later won the Oscar for the Best Original Song category.
However, according to news agency PTI, industry sources revealed that the Screen Actors Guild summons was the real reason behind Deepika’s absence at the Project K event. This strike has been going on in Hollywood since last week. Another Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has also expressed her support for this strike.
“Due to the Screen Actors Guild strike, actors are not allowed to provide promotional or publicity services. Events like San Diego Comic Con are also included in this. Deepika is not attending this event as a result of this,” PTI quoted.
