SS Rajamouli Mahabharata Movie Update: Vijayendra Prasad, the veteran writer and the father of ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli, has revealed some exciting details about his son’s upcoming projects. In a recent media interaction, he confirmed that Rajamouli is planning to make a sequel to his blockbuster film RRR, which starred Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles. The movie will either be directed by SS Rajamouli or someone under SSR supervision. He also said that Rajamouli’s dream project Mahabharatam, based on the epic Hindu mythology, will commence soon after he wraps up his next film with Mahesh Babu.
RRR, which released in 2022, was a fictional tale of two Indian freedom fighters from the early 20th century – Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). The film was a huge success both nationally and internationally, and even won a Golden Globe award for the best original song Naatu Naatu. The film’s writer Vijayendra Prasad said that he is working on the story of the sequel, which will continue the saga of the two heroes. He said, “I can’t reveal much about it but my father, who has been a screenwriter for all my films including RRR…We discussed a bit about it, and he is working on the story.”
Mahabharatam, on the other hand, is a project that Rajamouli has been wanting to make for a long time. He has expressed his desire to make a film based on the Hindu epic several times in the past. Vijayendra Prasad said that the project will commence very soon after Rajamouli completes his next film with Mahesh Babu, which is tentatively titled SSMB29.
SSMB29 is expected to be an action-adventure film set in a forest backdrop. The film will be produced by KL Narayana under Durga Arts banner. The cast and crew of the film are yet to be announced by the makers. The film shooting is likely to go on floors in 2024.
