Varun Tej’s Matka: A Retro Ride to the 60s in Vizag

Mega Prince Varun Tej, who is gearing up for the release of his action thriller Gandeevadhari Arjuna on August 25, 2023, has launched his next project with director Karuna Kumar, The movie, which is titled Matka, is a periodic drama set in the 1960s in Visakhapatnam and is inspired by real incidents that shocked the nation.

The title poster of Matka was unveiled by the makers today, and it gives a glimpse of the retro vibe of the film. The poster shows various objects that represent the era, such as a radio, a typewriter, a camera, a gramophone, and a matka (earthen pot). The film is said to span 24 years and will showcase Varun Tej in different looks and avatars.

Matka will be made on a pan-Indian scale and will feature Meenakshi Chowdary as the female lead opposite Varun Tej. Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi will also play a pivotal role in the film and will sizzle in a special song. The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar and cinematography by Priyaseth.

Matka is produced by Mohan Cherukuri (CVM) and Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala under the banner of Vyra Entertainments. The pooja ceremony of the film was held recently in Hyderabad and was attended by several celebrities from the industry, such as Allu Aravind, Dil Raju, Niharika, and Maruthi. The shooting of the film will commence soon and more details will be revealed by the makers in the coming days.
