Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal has made his debut in the Telugu film industry. He is playing the antagonist in the film ‘Bhagvanth Kesari’ directed by Anil Ravipudi and starring Nandamuri Balakrishna as the protagonist. He has recently finished shooting his part. He also became a father for the fourth time in July this year. He welcomed his fourth child at the age of 50 with his girlfriend Gabriella Demitriades. Arjun Rampal, who acted in Telugu for the first time, spoke to popular news portal about the difficulties he faced here. He also shared his thoughts on becoming a father for the fourth time and his daughter Myra’s independent growth.
I have watched a few south movies. I particularly enjoyed the movies directed by Mani Ratnam and Rajamouli. Their films are visually spectacular. Each movie has its own unique appeal. So, I am very glad to finally enter the South film industry. Everyone here is very passionate. Working here is a new experience for me. I consider it fortunate.
I don’t like to follow stereotypes. That’s why, when I get an opportunity to act in roles that I have never done before, I don’t let it go. Also, I don’t want to do roles that blend in with others. Whether it’s good or bad, I want to do roles that are memorable to the audience. Anil gave me such a role. I accepted that challenge. I am willing to work in more Telugu projects if my role works.
Learning a new language is not easy. Learning Telugu language is also not easy. But, the way I speak that language fits my voice perfectly (laughs). It was a very tough challenge for me to express emotions while understanding the Telugu language. However, I acted comfortably. Anil was impressed by that. He wrote huge dialogues and scenes for me.
When the teaser of ‘Bhagvanth Kesari’ was released, I went to a theater in Hyderabad and watched it. I was amazed by the energy of the audience there. I thought people were throwing money in the air. As they were throwing them, the screen showed nothing. However, later I realized that what they were throwing were pieces of paper that they had brought from home. I have never experienced anything like this before. I have never seen such a deep love for a movie.
