Zareen Khan, who made her Bollywood debut with Salman Khan in Veer (2010), has opened up about the constant comparisons with Katrina Kaif that she faced in her initial days. In a recent Reddit AMA session, Zareen said that she was happy to be compared to Katrina, whom she admired and found very beautiful. However, she also said that the comparison hurt her career, as she did not get a chance to show her own identity and talent in the industry. Zareen said that she was clueless about how things worked in Bollywood, as she had no film background or connections.
Zareen Khan was launched by Salman Khan in Veer, a period action drama directed by Anil Sharma. The film was touted as the next big Gadar by the director, and it came out when Salman’s popularity was at its peak. The film’s trailer generated a lot of buzz, but so did Zareen’s resemblance to Katrina Kaif, who was Salman’s close friend and co-star at that time. Zareen had to face the comparisons with Katrina throughout the film’s release and even after that.
Zareen Khan has since then appeared in films like Ready, Houseful 2, Hate Story 3, 1921 and Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele. Zareen has also worked in Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu movies. She has said that she wants to do more challenging roles and explore different genres of cinema.
