The teaser showed only the number 3 in a font and style that resembled the logo of Don. The background music was also similar to the song Main Hoon Don from the movie Don. Fans quickly understood that this was the announcement of Don 3, the third installment of the franchise that started with Don in 2006 and continued with Don 2 in 2011.
IMDb India commented on Farhan’s post with a humorous remark, saying “The police of 11 countries are waiting for the release date”. Farhan’s sister and director Zoya Akhtar also reacted with a fire emoji. The teaser had a catch line that said “A new era begins”. This raised questions among Shahrukh Khan’s fans, who wondered if he will return as Don.
There have been speculations that Ranveer Singh might replace Shahrukh Khan as the new Don. Fans expressed their displeasure with this idea, saying that no one can match Shahrukh’s charisma and swag in the role of Don. Some fans commented that there is no Don 3 without Shahrukh, and that there is no need for a new era without him.
